New Year's at Edinburgh


Hi! Happy New Year! :D
This is the first time I post in months! Sorry!

The country side on the way from London to Edinburgh is just breath taking!
I spent the new year in Edinburgh this year attending the Hogmanay festival. It was my first time in Scotland (it was freezing!) and I had so much fun! My husband and I loved Edinburgh!!

On the 30th of December we attended the torchlight procession, where so many people (40,000 according to the organizers!) carried torches and walked the streets of Edinburgh. At the end of the walk there was a fireworks display. This signals the beginning of the new year celebrations and the Hogmanay festival.

After that, we had a delicious dinner at Howie's and had THE MOST AMAZING chocolate banoffee tart I have ever tasted in my entire life!!! (I hope they open this restaurant in London)

The next day on new years eve there was a street party, with Scottish bands, DJs and all kinds of junk food (pizza, burgers, donuts, crepes...etc).

There was a firework display every hour from 9 PM until 12 PM. The final firework display was amazing! It was the first time I actually enjoy fireworks in my life! (eventhough I blocked my ears to protect them from the loud sounds of the fireworks*). They even had a smiley face firework!! but unfortunately I couldn't get that on cam... The whole thing was so much fun.

On new years day we went to the winter village in the city centre and enjoyed a few rides :)

The last day in Edinburgh was sunny, so my husband and I took a tour bus. We sat on the open roof of a double decker bus and saw the beautiful city. The city feels so ancient, yet it is well kept and beautiful.

I wish I had more time there, but I'm sure I'll be going back again... soon hopefully.
